Transportation Fuels Council of the Western Governors Association

WGA is asking Congress to pass legislation that would include incentives for the development and use of natural gas vehicles and NGV infrastructure. The NGV incentives would help create jobs, improve the economy, protect the environment and reduce the country's dependence on foreign oil. In a letter to House and Senate leaders, WGA's chairman and vice chairman, Govs. Brian Schweitzer and C.L. "Butch" Otter, called for swift action on pending legislation.

Incentives could help create more than half a million domestic jobs through increased production of light- and heavy-duty NGVs and NGV stations. WGA brought together two years ago more than 100 diverse stakeholders who recommended this and other priority actions that would help diversify fueling options and reduce greenhouse gas emissions. Recommendations can be found in their report, Transportation Fuels for the Future. The Council is trying to coordinate state efforts implementing the report's diverse recommendations to encourage alternative fuels
